More Than Just a Construction Zone: Meet Our Heavy Hitters

At first glance, it might not look like much progress has been made.

Shiny shop floors during construction

That’s not the case. Since signing the lease on March 18th, there has been a flurry of activity. Our landlady refinished the floors, which look amazingly bright and shiny - fit for a kitchen store.

A New Chapter for Local Friends

Jesse and his lovely wife Jaci - of Southwest Handmade - moved their furniture into our space (they closed shop at the end of April). It’s not a sad thing, the Crawfords will still be producing top of the line heirloom furniture and candles from their workshop in Ignacio. Besides being able to view and buy some of Jesse’s pieces and Jaci’s candles right here in Animas Apron, you can also visit them online. Same great product, less overhead.

We have also been furiously collecting vendors to sell at Animas Apron. Here are a few of the heavy hitters we’ve curated for your kitchen::

  • Swedish Powerhouse: The Ankarsrum mixer (come see the rotating bowl and dough attachment in action!)

  • The Chef’s Favorite: Made In carbon steel and stainless clad. Their griddle is a thing of beauty.

  • Hestan: Nanobond - if it’s good enough for Thomas Keller…

  • Peugeot: the Rolls-Royce of pepper grinders - the product of over  200 years of French engineering and design.

  • Weck: glass jars - an Instagram favorite.

  • Ryda knives: premium Swedish damascus knives.

  • Of course Le Creuset: because we’ll never get tired of making sourdough bread and what would we do without those vibrant colored dutch ovens.

AnimasApron Prototype Hedley & Bennett Apron

Besides selling all these products that elevate your time in the kitchen, I’m just happy to be testing them. I have a Scanpan from Denmark that I can attest is perfectly non-stick, non-toxic, built to last, you can even use metal utensils on it. (I still can't bring myself to use metal on it, but it’s nice to know I could!).

Hedley & Bennet are making our store “uniforms.” They are in the final stages of production, this is what they look like right now.

We picked their French Blue color, it felt like the natural choice. I can’t wait to try one on.

The Animas Apron Kitchen Co brand is taking shape and we have yet to open the doors.
